I spent 8 years in Rare Earth polishing solutions at Solvay, working with glass and optics manufacturers to solve the problems that never show up on a datasheet: the residual scratches that won’t go away, the removal rate that collapses four hours into a shift, the same grade behaving differently on two machines in the same workshop.
That diagnostic work is exactly what most producers have stopped offering to businesses below a certain size. I founded Illumine Consultants to keep offering it — as an independent partner, not tied to a single grade or a single source.
Illumine sources and qualifies polishing compounds from a vetted panel of Chinese producers, applying the same technical criteria a Western reference producer would use. Every grade we recommend ships with documented quality, a transparent pricing mechanism, and complete compliance paperwork.
I work first with flat glass and optics polishing workshops — where polishing problems are most common and least served today — and with distributors looking for a qualified second source. If a polishing result is costing you more than it should, or you need a documented second source for cerium or lanthanum oxide, my inbox is open.
